New SEIU 721 County of Ventura Bargaining Team Elected

The ballots are in and have been counted. Congratulations to the new SEIU 721 County of Ventura Bargaining Team! The ballots are in and were counted on Friday, May 20 at the SEIU Ventura office.

Bargaining team members will have the important role of representing you and all members at the bargaining table as we work together towards a fair contract and to LIFT UP VENTURA!

Big Win at Ventura Pension Board

The pension board that oversees the pensions for County of Ventura workers was moving to exclude Market Based Premium Pay from being pensionable. This move from the Ventura County Employees’ Retirement Association (VCERA) Board would have hurt workers’ secure retirement. VCERA’s third-party counsel felt sure that it was interpreting the law correctly.

A Big Step Up in Pay for Some SEIU Local 721 County of Ventura Workers

Almost 400 SEIU Local 721 represented County of Ventura employees will received new ADDITIONAL market based wage increases in the near future. Your SEIU 721 Bargaining Committee met with County representatives and agreed to additional MBA increases for 60 classifications, bringing worker salaries much closer to market value.

Another Major Victory in Ventura County!

The SEIU 721 County of Ventura Bargaining Committee has helped win most members over a 1-9% pay in extra increases over three years. This comes after SEIU 721 members helped defeat the pension-killing ballot measure and the SEIU 721 Workload Forum helped fight for and win more social worker positions.

On July 28, your bargaining team met with the County to review the results of the Market Based Adjustment Study, which is part of our current contract. The results are in, and not only is almost EVERYONE getting the 2% wage increase this August 16, over 1,800 SEIU 721 members will get an additional EXTRA 1-9% in wage increases this August 31.
