LA County Social Workers Respond to Attack of DCFS Employee

Our hearts go out to our fellow Social Worker and her family, this attack on one of our sisters is both heartbreaking and infuriating; the issue of safety at our workplace is not new and has been escalating in the last year. A Social worker’s job is to protect children and families by confronting an array of dangerous situations including domestic violence, individuals with severe mental illness and drug use.


Bringing August Heat!

Starting August, all L.A. County members were strongly encouraged to wear their official “Raise up ALL of LA County” sweatbands everyday while on the job to show their Local 721 unity.


Tentative Agreement for LA City Contract Heading to Members!

SEIU Local 721 members will be receiving further information including details of tentative agreement, ballots and voting instructions via mail. Members should also be on the look out for their worksite organizers in the coming weeks.

Raising the minimum wage in unincorporated L.A. County provides a game-changing opportunity for working families struggling to make ends meet, as well as a vantage point for our L.A. County members currently bargaining to raise up all of L.A. County. Over the last 3 years, SEIU Local 721 has anchored the fight by L.A. Fast Food Workers to increase the minimum wage throughout the Greater L.A. Region.

Eligibility Workers Deliver!

This new commitment to more Eligibility Workers is just the beginning. In order for ACA to succeed for L.A. County’s most vulnerable families, it’s critical we decrease the case backlog and ensure everyone has coverage when they most need it.


SEIU 721 Responds to DCFS Audit

There are never enough hours in the day to finish all the work diligently, so every CSW who logs into their computer system during non-regular working hours must also first submit a DCFS 158 form. SCSW’s who sign field itineraries for CSW’s outside of regular hours, must also have these CSW’s submit a form 158 for the overtime.
