Help support St. John’s as they care for South LA’s most vulnerable

The COVID-19 pandemic has increased demand for services at St. John’s Well Child and Family Center. They’re also on the front lines, providing direct care to people experiencing homelessness in South LA – which has the second highest population of homeless individuals in LA County.

Now is the time for us to open our hearts by giving what we can to St. John’s Well Child and Family Center so that they may continue their vital work. You can donate here.

The need is great. Since the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic, walk-in patients to St. John’s mobile clinics – which are stationed at homeless encampments – have increased by 25-35%. Homeless patients include both individuals and families.

St. John’s also provides other critical services:

  • Distributing hygiene kits like thermals, blankets, face masks, hand sanitizer, gloves, tissues, disinfectant wipes and bottled water
  • Providing access to an isolation bed via an intake hotline, which allows those who are symptomatic to be quarantined
  • Offering health education and information about resources such as food banks, portable toilets, hand-washing stations and drop-in centers
  • Utilizing mobile unit docks at shelters and encampments where people experiencing homelessness are located to conduct screening and testing, which take services directly to homeless individuals and families

Our Brothers and Sisters at St. John’s are there for us at SEIU 721 when we need them. Now it’s our chance to return the favor – and at a time when they arguably need it most, as the COVID-19 continues to strain our health care system and jeopardize everyone’s ability to stay well.

The COVID-19 pandemic has proven that the health of one of us truly affects the health of all of us. Help Los Angeles contain the highly contagious Coronavirus by helping those who need it most. Donate to St. John’s today.

Together, we rise.
