Despite assurances from city management, we have learned that the retroactive payments for various increases we achieved in negotiations will not be included on our November 27 paychecks.
This news is both unexpected and a slap in the face to city members, who have stepped up time and time again to keep vital services running throughout the turbulence of the past few years. Rest assured, SEIU 721 is working tirelessly to resolve this issue with city officials. At this time, we believe the delay will affect city employees across the Coalition of City Unions.
This news is a drastic departure from our agreements with city leadership, and SEIU 721 is committed to holding management accountable and making every member whole. We will also continue to follow up with individual City departments who are charged with entering the data once programming is completed.
SEIU 721 legal and advocacy departments are hard at work resolving this issue – already advancing a grievance with the City of Los Angeles to move this process forward as quickly as possible – and will be in touch with more details as soon as they become available.
