About the Play:

Tumble into the world of “Filthy Laundry” where whispers of unionization echo amidst the clatter of machines.

In 1972, through the steam and dust of an industrial laundry facility, a trio of unlikely allies – an older Latina, a middle-aged black woman, and a white teen – unite against an inept boss whose only qualification is his family name, as he plays puppeteer with their jobs.

As tensions rise and lines are drawn, the play delves into the complexities of race, power dynamics, and the resilience of the human spirit within the workplace. “El Jefe”, driven by his warped beliefs, manipulates and exploits his employees, perpetuating a cycle of oppression and resistance. Through the struggles of the women, “Filthy Laundry” challenges audiences to confront the injustices of the past and present, while celebrating the human survival instinct during tough times.
