You may already know, but USC management is now telling fellow housing workers that we will not receive an annual wage increase until we — as SEIU Local 721 members — complete negotiations for our first contract with USC. The university told our USC Shuttle Driver colleagues who joined SEIU 721 the thing same recently.
This move by the university is unacceptable! Merit pay increases are established practice regularly expected by employees, and we believe the university must continue this practice by law!
Last Friday, our SEIU 721 attorneys sent a letter to USC, demanding that the university continue its practice of offering merit increases based on evaluations and reminding USC of its obligations under the National Labor Relations Act.
We’ll keep you posted on the situation, but if USC continues this behavior, we’re ready to fight!
