Developmental Disability workers at the ResCare Hy-Lond Home facility in Garden Grove voted overwhelmingly on June 28 to form their union with SEIU Local 721. The vote was decisively in favor of creating a better future for ResCare workers and their clients, despite heavy resistance and an intense boss fight brought on by management.
“We have a lot of happiness after this vote. It was hard, they were trying to keep us separate, but we stuck together. Now, we have the opportunity to change things that we couldn’t change before.”

ResCare workers at Hy-Lond Home expressed love for the work they do throughout the campaign, but formed a union to address concerns around safe staffing, improved training, fair wages and benefits, increased respect and a voice on the job, so they could better advocate for their clients.
