LA County Bargaining Update: Bringing Our Unprecedented Momentum to the Table

In case you missed it, we started out bargaining with a bang on November 7th, with thousands of LA County members purpling up in support of our bargaining teams. Across worksites, BUs, and departments, we sent a clear message to LA County leadership: we’re ready to fight for what we deserve.

With the wind at our backs, we came back to the table for our second bargaining session with LA County management. Here’s what you need to know:

Ground Rules – While we’ve made headway establishing ground rules for our 2025 negotiations, there’s still work to be done.

Common Language Proposals – We made all of our common language proposals, including:

  • Aggressive monetary increases in-line with our member priorities, including cost of living adjustments to keep pace with the skyrocketing cost of housing, and
  • Strengthening contract language in areas including contracting out, filling vacancies, and making telework permanent.

Community Groups Showed Up in Support – We were joined during our session by community partners from our FixLA Coalition, including ACCE, Eastside Leads, and Act LA, who spoke in support of our proposals.

What’s Next?

Our next bargaining session is scheduled for November 21, where we’ll continue to negotiate our ground rules and submit our Fringe Benefits proposals to the County.

Mark your calendars for other key dates:

Every Thursday — Just like we did on November 7, we need to purple up every Thursday to support our Bargaining Team.

Sunday 11/24 at 6:00 p.m. — A tele-town hall to update LA County membership on our contract campaign.

Tuesday 12/3 at 9:00 a.m. — Our Auctioning Off LA Press Conference. Join us for the launch of our groundbreaking report on LA County’s contracting out, and to call attention to the county’s multi-billion-dollar handouts to rich corporations.

When we fight, we win!
