“Thank you” barely begins to express my gratitude.
Over the past several years, we’ve witnessed and experienced a global pandemic, high inflation, political division, and numerous global injustices.
Yet, you carry on.
You carry on providing vital services to the people of Southern California. You carry on being a good friend and family member. You carry on being an important and active member of your community.
And you carry on supporting your fellow union members.
Over the past few years, we as a union family have won huge victories, including historic contracts that have not only helped our members keep up with the high cost of living in Southern California — but have literally kept some in their homes and ensured that they can put food on the table.
That doesn’t happen unless all of us are united, all of us are fighting, and all of us are together for each other. Time and time again, you have stepped up for your union brothers and sisters — whether it be joining union meetings late at night or early in the morning, or at thousands-member-strong rallies and actions.
It’s a historic time. We are living in an era of labor revitalization, where workers of all kinds are stepping up and demanding more from their employers — including, and especially, their right to be in a union. When we show up in solidary with each other, it inspires the entire labor movement, as well as those who are seeking change in their workplaces, in their communities, and beyond.
So, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for making SEIU Local 721 the amazing union that it is.
If you’re off today, I hope you’re able to have a wonderful, relaxing time this Thanksgiving with your loved ones.
For those of you who must work the holiday, please know that you are a true testament to the importance of the work we do. Rain or shine, holiday or not, we must provide our vital services to the public, and we show up to do so every time. I want to express how grateful SEIU 721 members are to have you as part of our labor family — and we hope you’re able to carve out some time with loved ones over the next few days.
Thank you, all, again, for your service.
With immense gratitude,
David Green
SEIU 721 President
You’re welcome.
