Adolfo Granados, Treasurer, SEIU 721:
“When I was around 13, my father took my family and me to the fields in Fresno, Calif., to pick grapes and oranges from sunup to sundown and learn what life was like for him growing up. It was hard, back-breaking work in the summer.
Sometimes, I couldn’t even find a proper toilet in the fields. Many of us come from humble roots like this, but what that experience taught me is that all work is valuable — and that all workers deserve respect, dignity, and the ability to provide for themselves and their families so they can advance and live their dreams.
Being a member of SEIU 721 has helped me get what I deserve. After an over 20-year career with LA County’s Dept. of Public Social Services, I have savings, a secure retirement, and I own a home. That’s the union difference.
That’s why I’m urging USC Housing workers: Vote YES on June 15 and join the SEIU 721 family!”
