When voters passed Measure J in November, politicians promised that more taxpayer funding would go towards good-paying jobs that made our communities happier, healthier and more wholesome … jobs like ours at 211.
But now the opposite is happening at LA County. They’re taking bids to PRIVATIZE our jobs – and they’re encouraging a BIG TECH takeover!
All of us at 211 just spent the past year literally handling thousands of calls from LA County residents throughout the entire COVID-19 pandemic – assisting people during their most desperate hour by compassionately connecting them to exactly where they needed to go. We know LA County. It’s not some far-away place. We live and work here, too. We used the highest standards of professionalism during an excruciating time for our entire nation. And we still do.
Now LA County wants to reward us at 211 with potential layoffs – and betray the spirit of Measure J by privatizing our jobs!

Many of us at 211 voted for Measure J. SEIU 721 endorsed Measure J.
But we, the people of LA County, did not pass Measure J so that elected officials – who are entrusted to protect our community – could betray us by colluding with Big Tech to help them make big profits after obliterating our good Union jobs… and using our taxpayer dollars to fund the entire process.
Yet that’s exactly what will happen very soon, unless we stop them. And through the power of our Union – WE WILL.
Our jobs at 211 are a testing ground. If they can get away with it in our shop, you’d better believe Big Tech will stop at nothing until they’ve privatized every possible job in LA County’s entire public sector. And the aftermath won’t be pretty for the workers left behind.
Don’t let them fool you, your co-workers or the public into turning good-paying Union jobs into poverty jobs. Don’t let Big Tech privatize LA County jobs at 211!
