The surge of asylum seekers at the Tijuana border is creating a looming humanitarian crisis.
That’s why SEIU 721 members, Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE), and Hispanic/Latino Ministries and Border Concerns of the Cal-Pac Conference of the United Methodist Church are stepping up to launch a day-long PPE and humanitarian aid donation drive on Thursday, March 4th from 9AM to 7PM at Local 721 Los Angeles Headquarters.
The day-long donation drive will collect hygienic wipes, diapers, undergarments, socks, and basic over-the-counter medicine that will be delivered to Tijuana and distributed to asylum seekers currently awaiting entry into the U.S. — please make any donation you can.
The anticipated truck load of donations will be delivered this weekend to our partners at the US-Mexico border.
This will be the fifth humanitarian relief trip by our members since migrant caravans began arriving to the US-Mexico border in late 2018.
Past efforts included health screenings by Registered Nurses, including an attempt to provide flu shots at a San Ysidro detention center following the flu-related deaths of three children at similar facilities in 2019.
Donations will be accepted on Thursday, March 4th at SEIU Local 721 — 1545 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90017 — from 9AM to 7PM.
