So much has changed since COVID-19 upended life as we knew it.
Masks. Social Distancing. Working from Home. Distance Learning. Quarantines.
It hasn’t been easy – and in many ways this has been the hardest year we’ve ever faced. But even in the midst of these unprecedented challenges, there’s no doubt about one of the things that has helped make it easier to get through 2020: Our Union.
Living through a pandemic has made it even more abundantly clear how important it is for workers to have union protection. While the fight to #ProtectAllWorkers continues, SEIU 721 members have won expanded PPE policies, improvements to sick/time off leave, held back layoffs and furloughs and more.
Having a union has not only helped us stay on the job, it’s helped us stay safer and protected while there, especially as cases continue to rise.
A recent report by the Economic Policy Institute found union workers were more empowered and likely to speak up about workplace hazards. It also found that without unions, many workers are forced to work without PPE or access to paid leave. You can read the full report by clicking here.
