The holidays are around the corner and the COVID-19 pandemic is still here. It’s more vital than ever to protect our health – and for LA County members of our union with Kaiser Permanente coverage, there are new opportunities we won’t want to miss.
On Wednesday, October 28, Kaiser Permanente host a Webinar on COVID-19 featuring Dr. MaryAlice Ambrose. She’ll update us about the scientific reality of COVID-19 trends – what we’ve learned about how it spreads, how long people are contagious, the human impact and the current state of the pandemic.
The webinar will also cover “Preparing for safety during the holidays.” Presenters will show us how to make responsible travel plans and explain why this flu season matters more than ever. They’ll also offer guidance on how we can prioritize our mental health during this extraordinary era.

Testing supplies across the nation are limited. But it’s still important for essential workers to get tested, even if we’re “asymptomatic” or not showing any symptoms of COVID-19.
Asymptomatic essential workers who need a diagnostic test for COVID-19 should go to an external licensed, independent facility – like a CVS, Walgreens, other retail locations or a private lab. Good news: Many of these facilities bill Kaiser Permanente directly, so members may not have to pay anything out of pocket.

The flu vaccine is updated each year to target the latest strain of the flu. This year, Kaiser Permanente is offering lots of different options for getting flu vaccines to us – from walk-up facilities and drive-thrus to hosting “Flu Saturdays” at various Kaiser Permanente locations.
Additionally, now through December 31, Kaiser Permanente members can get a flu vaccine from select retailers like CVS, Walgreens, Vons and others. More good news: There’s no additional cost!
