Today, SEIU members endorsed Joe Biden for President.
After almost four years of a president who has put corporations and his business allies ahead of workers and our families, I’m ready to work to elect Vice President Joe Biden because he is committed to working for and with working people to unrig the rules that have kept us from getting ahead.
Watch this video about why SEIU members are supporting Joe Biden for President:
If elected, Vice President Biden has committed to ensure all people, of every race and background, have the right to join together in unions. He plans to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, hold corporations accountable for wage theft and other violations, and protect all working people, including immigrants, when they report labor violations.
By not taking the coronavirus seriously and responding too slowly as the virus swept the nation, President Trump put more people in danger. His actions not only cost people their jobs, but also their lives. Vice President Joe Biden, on the other hand, has a plan to combat coronavirus that protects people of all colors, and prioritizes the needs of workers and families who are suffering most from COVID-19.
Vice President Biden was a champion for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which extended affordable healthcare coverage to millions of previously uninsured Americans, including over 100 million people with preexisting conditions. As president, Biden would build on the ACA and offer a public health insurance option, meaning even more people would gain access to quality, affordable care.
Biden’s plans also include strengthening retirement options for working people, combating climate change, and holding polluters who disproportionately harm communities of color and low-income communities accountable.
SEIU 721 members know the power that we have when we come together. Let’s use that power to put a leader in office who will put people before corporations. We have a lot of work to do before November but we can do it because Together We Win!
In Unity,
Bob Schoonover
SEIU 721 President
