LA Superior Courts employees vote ‘Yes’ to ratify new TA

It’s turning out to be a very happy new year for LA Superior Courts employees, who voted overwhelmingly to ratify a three-year Tentative Agreement.

The new contract will offer salary increases of up to 10.7%* for BU 860 – and up to 9%* for BU 861 and BU 867. The contract also provides fully-paid medical and dental coverage, plus an increase in Options Healthcare Contributions each year. Members also will be eligible for as much as $3,000** in bonuses!

Here are the major highlights.

Wages

We won raises for all members!

BU 860

Members of BU 860 (Legal Processing Unit) will receive up to to 10.7%* in permanent, pensionable base salary increases and up to $3,000** in bonuses!

  • January 2019 – $1,000 bonus + 3% salary increase
  • October 2019 – 1.5% salary increase
  • January 2020 – 2% salary increase + 1% “Options Sustainability” salary increase
  • January 2021 – 2.75% salary step
  • July 2021 – 2% lump sum bonus

BU 861 and 867

Members of BU 861 (Court Reporters) and BU 867 (Supervisory Unit) will receive up to 9%* in permanent, pensionable base salary increases and up to $3,000** in bonuses!

  • January 2019 – $1,000 bonus + 3% salary increase
  • January 2020 – 2% salary increase + 1% “Options Sustainability” salary increase
  • January 2021 – 2.75% salary step
  • July 2021 – 2% lump sum bonus

Benefits

We won guaranteed fully-paid medical and dental healthcare coverage.

We also won an increase in our Options Healthcare Contributions each year, with a Flex Earnings cap of $325/month in 2020 and $244/month in 2021.
