It was a bright and sunny autumn afternoon in Southern California as hundreds of SEIU 721 families gathered at picturesque Whittier Narrows in South El Monte for Assembly and Family Fun Day.
This year’s gathering included plenty of food, games and live entertainment. The kids enjoyed face painting and game trucks while the adult attendees got the chance to win tickets to see the Lakers and the Rams. An especially popular draw this year for people of all ages were the In-N-Out food trucks.
Several elected officials stopped by Assembly and Family Fun Day to mingle with members of SEIU 721. Among them: Ricardo Lara, candidate for California Insurance Commissioner; Miguel Santiago, California State Assemblyman (53rd District); and Mark Gonzalez, Chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party.
But perhaps the best part of Assembly and Family Fun Day was the opportunity it gave fellow SEIU 721 members to mingle with one another. The strong bonds we form at the workplace are made even stronger when we reinforce them on our own time, doing things we enjoy. That’s what Assembly and Family Fun Day is all about!
