SEIU Local 721 members in the Tri-Counties region came out in full force to represent at the UFCW 770 Healthy Day 5k race in Ventura on President’s Day, Feb. 19th.
This race/health fair is becoming one of the most important community events in the Tri-Counties region. Labor groups from the entire region get to spend a morning together and enjoy a great run in our Ventura city park – one that was used to stage wildfire relief efforts only a couple of short months ago.
The majority of SEIU 721 runners were from the County of Ventura – with a strong representation from County Child Support – but there were also runners from Ventura Superior Courts and Gold Coast Transit.
The cool crisp morning and gentle winds provided ideal running weather and a good reason to gather in solidarity.
With the current attacks on working families across the country it is more important now than ever for us to stick together. When we can get together and do something that we love, to run, and to share in healthy activities with our families, that is the way we build the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood. That is being #unionstrong.
Let us know if you are interested in participating in other upcoming 5k runs or health related events. Contact Jesse Luna for more information at jesse.luna@seiu721.org. When we stand up for a healthier Tri-Counties region, our community wins!
