SEIU 721 has teamed up with the County of Ventura to host the First Annual “Hogs for Dogs” Poker Ride to benefit Ventura County Animal Services. The motorcycle ride is on Saturday, September 20, 2014 and will start at the Ventura Harley-Davidson shop in Camarillo.
“This event is a great way for the community to see the great work the Animal Services department is doing and to raise needed funds to care for animals before they find new homes.”-Ken Ketterman, Animal control officer
The Hogs for Dogs ride will make several stops throughout Ventura County. If you’ve never participated in a motorcycle ride of this type, bikers meet at a starting point then receive a playing card and instructions on how to get to the next stop. Riders receive cards at each stop until they get the final card at that last stop where they can complete a poker hand.
Riders who have the highest and lowest poker hand will win prizes. The public is welcome to the final stop at the Animal Shelter in Camarillo where they can enter raffles, have fee-waived pet adoptions, meet up with riders and enjoy a variety of food trucks.
