After several years of stop and start negotiations with Riverside County, Per Diem workers at Riverside County Regional Medical Center (RCRMC) and Inpatient Treatment Facilities (ITF) finally won the right to organize, and on Tuesday, Sept. 23, after all the votes were counted, workers overwhelmingly voted to join SEIU Local 721.
Following the vote count, Riverside County Human Resource representatives announced to the workers gathered, “The employees have spoken loud and clear.”
The new unit of 374, will cover professional Per Diems consisting of Registered Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and Clinical Lab Scientists, who work at the hospital and crisis facilities.
“I’m gaining a stronger voice by joining my coworkers to form our union. I’m proud I voted yes!” – Tamara Jeffers, Respiratory Care Practitioner III
