Simi Valley Members Pack Council Meeting, City Moves

Dozens of SEIU 721 members from the City of Simi Valley filled the council chambers on September 30, 2013 to support a fair contract as it bargains with the City. The council heard members loud and clear and instructed city management to run some more numbers and report back to them on October 14.

What’s Going On?

SEIU 721 members in Simi Valley are in bargaining with the City, and it’s time for the City to do the right thing and consider the reasonable economic proposals submitted by the SEIU 721 bargaining team. Members have been doing more and more for less pay and with fewer resources.

Members showed up in full force to the September 30 city council meeting and spoke up. Then, when the bargaining team went back to the table on October 2, the team heard the encouraging news that negotiators were instructed to put some more numbers together for the city council.

-Jeff Yaller, SEIU 721 bargaining team member and Plant Operator for the City of Simi Valley Water

The city council saw our numbers and heard from members like Jeff Yaller and had to respond. When we unite, we win.

Next Steps

October 14 will be a day of action, please PURPLE UP and watch for balloons in your workplace!
