SEIU 721 Members OK Extension in Simi Valley

What’s Going On?
The SEIU 721 Simi Valley Bargaining Committee agreed to a 90-day extension of the existing contract between SEIU 721 and the City of Simi Valley. The City requested the extension in early May so that the new City Manager, Eric J. Levitt, has a chance to “acclimate” himself to the City.

The City wanted to extend so we made sure any gains earned would be retroactive to July 1.”

How Will This Effect Bargaining?
The Memorandum of Agreement was due to expire on June 30, 2013 and now will be extended to September 30, 2013. Any benefits agreed to at the end of the negotiations will be retroactive to July 1, 2013. Our first bargaining session will be on July 24.
