On July 18, 2012, SEIU Local 721 presented a check for $2,000 to the Friends of the Aviary group, which is working to keep the long-time aviary open.
I think it’s a very worthwhile project for us to donate to and get involved with. It’s
something that is very dear to my heart. I’ve been coming up here since 1970 an
d I’d like to see it put back to its original shape.

The Friends of the Aviary group is planning a fundraising concert and dinner in Santa Paula on August 18, 2012. The concert will have four bands and plenty of good food for $20. The funds will go towards materials to help repair the aviary.
