The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors unfairly imposed terms and conditions on SEIU Local 721 members, slashing their paychecks by 3.5% and forcing 40 hours of furlough time. Now it’s time to push back and hold the Board of Supervisors accountable for this unjustified action.
The SEIU 721 members impacted are social workers and eligibility workers, serving the most vulnerable in the community. Now many members are being forced to seek second jobs, are unable to pay for bills and are reducing health care services for their family.
“I am one of many workers struggling to make ends meet. I was unable to make my full rent this month and my ability to pay for basic essentials such as utility bills, food, child care, household needs and transportation costs is severely impacted.”
-Paty Perez, Eligibility Worker in Santa Barbara County
Taking Action
On Jan. 31, 2012, Santa Barbara County SEIU 721 members will rally against wage cuts and in solidarity with Riverside County members which also had terms and conditions imposed on them by the county.
