Bargaining Update: Little Movement at Table, Time for Action

The SEIU 721 Riverside County bargaining team came to the negotiations table this week with the goal of settling a fair contract with the county of Riverside prior to the end of open enrollment, Oct. 27. But once again, county management was unable to bring a fair economic proposal to the table.

“We need to send a strong message to the Board of Supervisors to get to a fair settlement. By attending the informational membership meeting Nov. 2 in Moreno Valley or Nov. 4 in Indio, you can have a voice in the action plan to help move the county to do right by it’s employees so we can continue to provide quality public services.” – Alia Paula, Clinical Therapist II and Bargaining Team member

  1. Sent to BOS member John Benoit:
“Supervisor Benoit…I have been a county employee for more than 20 years in a professional position. I have a Master’s Degree. I reside in the home I paid $106K for in 1989. I drive a 2007 Nissan Sentra. I have FICA scores in the “Good” to “Excellent” range. If the current county proposals are implimented, I may be unable to remain in my home, won’t be able to pay my property taxes, and will certainly exercise my franchise to depose those who would stand by idly to let this circumstance come to pass for me and other county employees. I implore you and the other supervisors to take a more “hands on” approach to negotiations, and to offer the county’s employees a contract that we can live with…”
