National Nurses Week kicked off on Friday, May 6, with eight SEIU Local 721 Riverside County Regional Medical Center nurses honored by Senator Bill Emmerson (R-Hemet) and Assemblyman Brian Nestande (R-Palm Springs).

Based on their service to patients and dedication to their profession, nurses from seven hospitals were honored at the First Annual Notable Nurses Awards Ceremony on the recommendation of each hospital’s Chief Nursing Officer (CN).

Dolores Gonzalez“I am honored that Annette Greenwood, our CNO, recommended me for this award, especially since Emergency Treatment Services/Inpatient Treatment Facility (ETS/ITF) is secluded from RCRMC, yet we provide vital services that are much needed in Riverside County during these trying economic times. She had kind words about my work and my passion towards our clients that have mental illness. This is also important since May is also Mental Illness Awareness and many people are in need of the services we provide.” Dolores Gonzalez, RN ETS/ITF and Bargaining Team member
The complete list of nurses honored from Riverside County Regional Medical Center and Emergency Treatment Services/Inpatient Treatment Facility are: Maryanne Ashton, Debra Brehm, John Castro, Brooke Clendenen, Jenee Goerl, Dolores Gonzalez, Irynne Obmerg, and Dorothy Perry.
