Retirement Security – Unity Meeting Action
Riverside County employees who are members of SEIU 721 and LIUNA 777 delivered close to 700 signed postcards to the Board of Supervisors’ offices on Tuesday with a message to each Supervisor:
“I am your constituent. I am a public service worker, I am a Union member, and I vote!
“
Nina Hiers, left, LIUNA 777 steward and Eligibility Technician with Riverside County and Anna Pazsitzky, right, Children Social Services and SEIU 721 member, helped deliver balloon bouquets with close to 700 signed postcards to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors offices.
“I am proud of the work I do in providing services for children and families.
It is important for the Supervisors to remember that we also pay taxes that provide for the poor and needy. We are contributors, not just consumers.”

Riverside County Bargaining Update
After spending most of the second day of bargaining going over Riverside County’s initial contract proposal, management made it clear that they want SEIU employees to pay 100% of their employee retirement contribution which would equate to an 8% pay cut forever; eliminate the fairness agreement to open the door for only management to get their step increases back; and do away with scholarship and training funding for our members that had provided workers with opportunities to advance their education and job skills to better serve the citizens of Riverside County.
“Not only do they want to cut scholarship and training funding for our members, they want to remove our fairness agreement which would allow managers to get raises, special pay incentives, and supplemental pensions while our members contin
ue to lose pay and benefits.”
-Eric Mummert, Riverside County Business Process Analyst II
RCRMC Registry Management Outsourcing Postponed
Also on Tuesday, Supervisors agreed with SEIU to postpone for 30 days a proposal from Riverside County Regional Medical Center (RCRMC) management to outsource the management of the nurse and health care registry contracts.
SEIU 721 members support focusing on recruitment and retention of nurses to resolve nurse staffing issues. Supervisor Jeff Stone, in supporting the tabling of the proposal, pointed out there is a problem retaining experienced nursing staff at the medical center.
SEIU 721 members are seeking a meeting with medical center management in the coming weeks to discuss recruitment and retention options.
